Inside PMOS Recovery: Our 12-Week Approach to Managing PMOS
If you’re living with PMOS (formerly PCOS), there’s a good chance you’ve already been given a long list of things you’re supposedly meant to do. Change your diet. Balance your blood sugar. Take supplements. Exercise, but make sure you’re doing the “right” kind. Manage your stress. Get enough sleep. Maybe you’ve tried some of it. Maybe you’ve tried all of it.
And yet, you’re still wondering: Why aren’t I getting better? What’s actually going to help me?
That’s one of the biggest reasons we created PMOS (PCOS) Recovery Program our 12-week nutrition and lifestyle program for people who want to better understand and manage PMOS without making it another full-time job.
In this episode of The Hormone Nutrition Podcast, I’m taking you completely behind the scenes of PMOS Recovery: who it’s for, what we teach, the framework we use, what results previous participants have reported and what’s actually included in the program.
What is PMOS Recovery?
PMOS Recovery is a 12-week, evidence-informed nutrition and lifestyle program designed to help people with PMOS (formerly PCOS) better understand their symptoms and build sustainable strategies to manage them. It brings together nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, gut health and your relationship with food so you can understand how these different pieces fit together rather than trying to tackle each one in isolation!
One of the biggest challenges with PMOS isn't necessarily a lack of information. In many cases, it's the opposite. There are diets, supplements, blood sugar hacks, exercise recommendations and lists of foods you're apparently never supposed to eat again, and to be frank, it’s exhausting.
We see people with PMOS who are already trying incredibly hard. You might be rigid with food all day, only to find yourself starving or feeling out of control around food at night. You may take supplements or medications and still wonder why you’re exhausted or struggling with symptoms.
What’s often missing isn’t effort. It’s a comprehensive roadmap that helps you understand what’s happening in your body, what actually matters for you and where to focus first to feel better.
That's what we wanted to build with PMOS Recovery.
Who is PMOS Recovery for?
PMOS Recovery is designed for people at different stages of living with PMOS.
You might have been diagnosed recently and have no idea where to start. Or you may have been managing PMOS for years and feel like you've already tried everything. Maybe you’re dealing with low energy, insulin resistance, inflammation, digestive concerns, cravings...maybe you're already taking medication or supplements but still feel like you're piecing everything together on your own.
What do you learn in PMOS Recovery?
PMOS Recovery is a 12-week program, that starts with foundational nutrition before moving into more specific PMOS interventions, your relationship with food, movement, stress, sleep and sustainable habit-building!
Weeks 1–2: Building your nutrition foundation
Before getting into supplements or specific interventions for insulin resistance, we start with the basics: meal timing, our PMOS meal formula, protein, carbohydrates, fats and overall energy intake.
Because you can take all the supplements in the world, but if you're skipping meals, not eating enough, feeling unsatisfied after eating or ending the day ravenous, supplements aren't going to fix that foundation.
The first goal is to make sure your body is actually being nourished consistently. (It’s like building the floor of a house before adding windows, roof, shingles…you get the idea).
Weeks 3–4: PMOS nutrition interventions
Once that foundation is in place, we dig further into nutrition interventions related to insulin resistance, androgens, inflammation, fertility and supplements.
Your biggest concern might be insulin resistance. Someone else may be thinking about fertility. Someone else may be struggling with their cycles or androgen-related symptoms.
There can be overlap between all of these areas because your body doesn't operate as a collection of completely separate systems. This part of the program helps you understand what may be particularly relevant to you and where you may want to focus.
Weeks 5–6: Your relationship with food
This is one of the most important parts of the program! And to be honest, one of our favourites because it’s so human-centred and empowering.
We talk about cravings, the binge-restrict cycle, what a healthy relationship with food can look like and how to fuel yourself from a place of caring for your body rather than punishing it.
A lot of people come into PMOS Recovery wanting to “know what to eat,” and by the end, they report that one of the biggest unexpected “wins” is how much better they feel around food. Because you can know everything about nutrition, but if applying that information leaves you anxious, guilty or increasingly rigid around food, we're missing a huge part of your health!
Weeks 7–8: Movement, stress and sleep
PMOS management isn't only about food. We also cover movement and your relationship with exercise, including some of the confusion around HIIT and what types of exercise you're “allowed” to do with PMOS.
We talk about cortisol, stress resilience, sleep hygiene and sleep apnea so you can start looking beyond food at the other factors that may influence how you're feeling day to day.
The final weeks: Making PMOS management work in real life
The final part of PMOS Recovery is about bringing everything you've learned forward, meaning that your habits extend beyond the 12 weeks. We really want to help you instil lifelong tools.
We focus on goal setting, habit formation and meal planning that can actually fit into your life. This is important because simply put, life is not static. One of the only things we can count on is change. You might travel, move, change jobs, grow your family, and enter a completely different season of life.
You need a toolbox that’s adaptable and flexible enough to change with you.
What results have participants seen in PMOS Recovery?
Based on post-program surveys from previous PMOS Recovery cohorts, participants reported:
Up to a 45% improvement in hormone-related symptoms
Nearly a 65% improvement in digestive symptoms
A 21% improvement in mood and mental well-being
Almost a 15% improvement in energy and sleep
But one of my favourite pieces of feedback from a member wasn't actually about a symptom, it was about the the mental clarity and capacity she had regained:
“It feels like I have so much more time in the day, not thinking about my PCOS.”
That captures an important part of what we want people to take away from PMOS Recovery. Yes, we want symptoms to improve. But we also want PMOS to take up less mental space, so you can focus on what really adds to your life and what matters.
The goal is to understand your body, have practical tools you can continue using after the program, and feel more confident managing PMOS in your everyday life.
What’s included in PMOS Recovery?
PMOS Recovery is fully virtual and takes place over 12 weeks so you have time to learn, practice new skills and start building habits you can continue using.
The program includes:
Live group coaching calls with our dietitians and community
More than 20 guided learning videos through our Complete Guide to PMOS Management course
Practical worksheets and resources to help you apply what you're learning
A private community for ongoing support, accountability and troubleshooting
How much time does PMOS Recovery take each week?
We estimate that you'll need about 60 minutes per week to work through the PMOS Recovery learning material and action steps. During weeks with a live group coaching call, the total time commitment will be a little higher.
What are the Community and VIP options?
There are two ways to join PMOS Recovery depending on the level of support you're looking for.
The Community option includes the full 12-week program, live group coaching calls and private community support. Because the program is fully virtual, the Community option is available to participants outside Ontario and Canada as well.
The VIP Support option, available in Ontario only, includes everything in Community plus additional individualized clinical care: a one-on-one appointment with a Nest & Nurture Nurse Practitioner for blood work and assessment, as well as three individual appointments with a Nest & Nurture dietitian.
VIP is designed for people who want the education and community of the group program alongside more personalized clinical support!
Is PMOS Recovery worth it if you’ve already tried other approaches?
If you've already tried diets, supplements, meal plans or different approaches to managing PMOS without getting where you want to be, it makes sense to wonder whether another program will actually be different.
I can't promise exactly how your body will respond over 12 weeks. Everyone's PMOS and starting point are different. What PMOS Recovery is designed to give you is something you can keep using: an evidence-informed framework, clinical support and the skills to understand and adapt your approach as your life and health change.
The goal isn't for you to finish 12 weeks, close the program and wonder, Okay… now what? The goal is for what you've learned to become yours, for life.
Instead of jumping from one food list to another supplement to another TikTok and wondering which thing you're supposed to try next, you have a foundation you understand and know how to return to.
Ready for PMOS to take up less of your life?
If you’re tired of thinking about what you should eat, whether you’re doing enough, which supplement you should try next, or why you’re still struggling with symptoms despite doing so many of the “right” things, you don’t need another list of rules.
You need a way forward that actually makes sense for your body and your life.
That’s what we built PMOS Recovery to give you.
Over 12 weeks, we’ll help you understand your PMOS, figure out what actually deserves your attention, and build an approach to nutrition, movement, stress, sleep and your relationship with food that you can keep coming back to.
So you can spend less time trying to manage PMOS perfectly, and more time actually living your life.
We start October 14th. Join us here!
